The FAJB Field Training Center is a facility the Central Aid Agency uses for training and as a base of operations in Sector 1 through a use agreement with the property owners. The facility is managed by Central Command and currently serves as the headquarters for Sector 1 and Joint Task Force 1. Commonly referred to by its nickname "The Jungle" because of its dense underbrush, the facility consists of acres of heavily wooded land and variable terrain. The C.A.A. maintains a building on the property that serves as combination headquarters and barracks where personnel can be billeted when staying for extended operational periods. The maintenance and operation of the facility is primarily the responsibility of Joint Task Force 1.
Joint Task Force 1
Joint Task Force 1, also called Task Force Jungle, is the primary operational unit assigned to Sector 1, and additionally is responsible for training other C.A.A. units at the FAJB Field Training Center. Because the unit does not have any dedicated personnel, personnel from other units and commands are assigned to it on a temporary or ongoing basis to provide staffing. To better manage the chain of command among its transient personnel, Task Force 1 is subdivided into operational Detachments that each focus on a particular role or capability, as well as the training of other units in those roles and capabilities. Because of the environment and terrain that members of Joint Task Force 1 serve in, they typically wear OD Green uniforms (Color Type 3), especially if they are part of the ongoing detail roster. Joint Task Force 1 has the distinction of being the oldest organized unit within the Central Aid Agency and has remained largely the same as when first commissioned in summer 2010.
Detachment Alpha "The Jungle Rats"
Joint Task Force 1, Detachment Alpha is an operational unit of Task Force 1. It has variable composition and leadership, depending on what units or personnel are present at any given time. Its primary mission is the Administration, Maintenance, Development, and General Operations of the FAJB Field Training Center "The Jungle"; however its personnel are cross-trained and can fulfill other capabilities as needed. Detachment Alpha also functions as an HQ unit and exercises command authority over other units and personnel serving in Sector 1. Like all elements of Joint Task Force 1, Detachment Alpha consists of units and personnel that are detailed based on their specific role. Details are either temporary or ongoing, with temporary details lasting only for the duration of time the unit is operating in Sector 1; or ongoing, with the detail lasting on a more permanent or rotating basis.
