The Backcountry Wilderness Rangers are a Branch under VFAC whose mission is to provide facility and land resource management, coordination, and capability in backcountry areas through personnel cross-trained in emergency response, facility services, security, land and resource management, light construction, and rural operations.  Also to perform park ranger duties and functions when required or assigned.

Special Vehicle Operations Logo

Special Vehicle Operations

Special Vehicle Operations is a program under Vehicles Facilities Assets & Capabilities (VFAC) to provide advanced offroad / 4×4 vehicle capability, and other vehicles equipped for special purposes; to support special operations, emergency response, and other missions as assigned.  The program currently involves the use of privately owned vehicles (POVs) from C.A.A. personnel that have offroad capability and meet certain requirements.  SVO deploys to support C.A.A. Emergency Response operations; but also engages in training, OHV assistance patrols, and light offroad vehicle recovery efforts when requested.

VFAC does not currently have any active units.

Uniforms of VFAC

VFAC primarily wears uniforms in Navy Blue (Color Type 1).  Personnel embedded in other units typically wear the uniform of the unit they are assigned to.  Uniforms commonly worn by VFAC include:

Service Dress Uniform Class A

Service Dress Uniform Class B

Responder Garrison Uniform Class C

Responder Utility Uniform / Basic Duty Uniform Class C

Administrative Uniform with Navy Polo and Tan Pants Class C

Field Basic Service Uniform Class E (When participating in Community Service activities)

Physical Training Uniform Class E

Because VFAC units are deployable, but do not usually have to wear respirators; they typically require Type 3 or greater hygiene and appearance requirements when in full uniform.  Though personnel embedded in other units typically must follow the hygiene requirements of their assigned unit.
