Community Service

On January 22nd, 2021 the C.A.A. Board of Directors voted to deactivate the Primary Command of Community Service, along with all of its units, for the time being; to better focus available resources on other mission areas.  This page is maintained for archival purposes only.

Community Service Emblem

Community Service is a Central Aid Agency Primary Command.  The mission of Community Service is to undertake community service projects and activities, provide community-based humanitarian initiatives and services, and engage in community outreach in furtherance of the common good; with the purpose of spreading the Christian Faith through positive actions and selfless service while benefiting the whole community.  Finally, to foster relationships through partnership and cooperation towards the mutual goal of making the world a better place.  Community Service is one of the most active commands of the Central Aid Agency because of its importance to our overall mission, and has been involved with a wide range of service projects and fundraisers over the years.  Community Service volunteers are sometimes called “green shirts” because of the distinctive forest green uniform shirts they wear when participating in community service related activities.

Community Service Squad 1

Community Service Squad 1 is a community service unit that conducts service projects, work parties, and community outreach based out of Sector 2.  The unit is comprised of Active Duty and Cadet elements.  Community Service Squad 1 has participated in numerous projects and events, including helping to build houses for Habitat for Humanity, the Spring and Fall Great Oregon Beach Cleanups with SOLVE, recycling old electronics with NextStep Recycling, and various projects for the Eugene Mission to name a few.

Type 2 or greater hygiene and appearance requirements is required for personnel that are paid.
