Communications and Data is a Primary Command whose mission is to provide information technology services, signals and communication services, database management, system development, and infrastructure development / management. Additionally, to provide and regulate C.A.A. communications operators and technicians.
Communications and Data is not currently an active command, however it has subordinate command(s) that are currently active.
EMCOMM is a Program under Communications and Data that is operated as a partnership between Comms and Data and Central Command to provide professional and amateur emergency communication radio services in coordination with the CERT program, RRT, and Incident Management and Operational Support (IMOS), to serve as an auxiliary to IMOS-tasked units. Additionally, to coordinate professional and amateur radio resources among non-IMOS units capable of being used in emergencies. The program is comprised of members who are specific to EMCOMM whose primary purpose is emergency communications, but also has a framework for members that are cross trained with the CERT program called EMCOMM CERT who can jointly provide emergency communications in addition to CERT response.
Communications and Data does not currently have any active units.
Communications and Data primarily wears uniforms in Navy Blue (Color Type 1). Personnel embedded in other units typically wear the uniform of the unit they are assigned to. Uniforms commonly worn by Communications and Data include:
Service Dress Uniform Class A
Service Dress Uniform Class B
Responder Garrison Uniform Class C
Responder Utility Uniform / Basic Duty Uniform Class C
Administrative Uniform with Navy Polo and Tan Pants Class C
Field Basic Service Uniform Class E (When participating in Community Service activities)
Physical Training Uniform Class E
Because Communications and Data units are deployable, but do not usually have to wear respirators; they typically require Type 3 or greater hygiene and appearance requirements when in full uniform. Though personnel embedded in other units typically must follow the hygiene requirements of their assigned unit.
