Science & Engineering

Science and Engineering emblem

Science and Engineering is a Primary Command whose mission is to provide scientific services, research and development, design, and engineering for and on behalf of the C.A.A.

Science and Engineering is not currently an active command, however it has subordinate commands that are active.

Mobile Weather Response Unit

The Mobile Weather Response Unit is a program under Science and Engineering to provide real-time situational awareness, scientific data collection, and emergency response.  The program operates through highly-mobile storm hunting, spotting, and chasing Mobile Response Units and Task Forces that are cross-trained in emergency response.  These units are able to provide immediate information and response during and following a severe weather event.

Science and Engineering does not currently have any active units.

Uniforms of Science and Engineering

Science and Engineering primarily wears uniforms in Navy Blue (Color Type 1).  Personnel embedded in other units typically wear the uniform of the unit they are assigned to.  Uniforms commonly worn by Science and Engineering include:

Service Dress Uniform Class A

Service Dress Uniform Class B

Responder Garrison Uniform Class C

Responder Utility Uniform / Basic Duty Uniform Class C

Administrative Uniform with Navy Polo and Tan Pants Class C

Field Basic Service Uniform Class E (When participating in Community Service activities)

Physical Training Uniform Class E

Because Science and Engineering units may be deployable, but do not usually have to wear respirators; they typically require Type 3 or greater hygiene and appearance requirements when in full uniform.  Though this may vary widely by unit and role; personnel embedded in other units also typically must follow the hygiene requirements of their assigned unit.
